From the moment I first caught sight of the River Thames through my schoolroom window at just six years, I knew my destiny sparkled upon its surface! Each day, my curiosity soared, fueled by incredible tales of the fascinating creatures swimming beneath the surface. It was my cousin who opened the door to the enchanting world of fishing, taking me under his wing at that tender age. Armed with nothing but a simple float rod and somegots, I eagerly cast my line into the river ready to uncover its secrets. Suddenly, a monstrous pike burst from the shadows, snatching my prize a ferocity that left me speechless! Though the line was cut and the fish escaped, I was forever hooked on the thrill of the chase. As I grew older, my passion for fishing blossomed into a lifelong adventure. By the age of 12, I was already casting line into the Thames in search of bream, chub, and the occasional pike. But it was the whispered rumors of mighty carp lurking in the depths that truly ignited my imagination! Then, one fateful day, luck smiled upon me as I witnessed a fellow angler reel in a massive carp right before my eyes! The sight of that majestic creature lit a fire within me – a burning determination to conquer the river's most elusive prize. For three long years, I honed my skills and perfected my craft, and finally, my perseverance paid off! With trembling hands, I cradled my first Thames carp – a modest 6-pounder that filled me with a sense of pride and accomplishment like never before. This was the beginning of my journey as a Thames carp angler, a journey that has spanned over twenty-five amazing years and made me a master of the trade! My hard-fought exploits graced the pages of magazines, books, and online platforms, inspiring countless anglers to follow in footsteps. But for me, fishing has always been about more than just the thrill of the catch – it’s about the wonders of the river with others. And so, with a full of gratitude and a spirit of generosity, I founded the Thames Warrior Experience – a fully guided fishing venture that offers anglers of all skill levels the chance to experience the magic of the river firsthand.
